Building the House of Petrichor
The Origin of an Essence
The name arrived in a singular, perfect moment—the intoxicating fragrance of rain meeting the sun-drenched earth after a long Australian heat. Learning that the word Petrichor was coined by Australian scientists ignited a clear vision: I would weave the extraordinary, luminous beauty of this continent into everything I create.
From the Kitchen to the Canvas
For thirty years, my hands spoke the language of a chef, mastering the delicate balance of composition and sensory experience. Today, I translate that same precision into color and shape. Whether I am layering flavors or pigments, the intent remains the same: to capture a fleeting moment of beauty and make it permanent.
The River and the Revelation
My move to the banks of the river in the West Tamar Valley, Tasmania, was the final catalyst. Living beside flowing water awakened an urgency in my soul that could no longer be contained. From those magical riverside moments, The Yallaroo Collection was born—capturing the vibrant, botanical energy of Australia from coast to mountain, desert to sea.
The Evolving Horizon
As my brushes moved, so did my lens. I began revisiting decades of photography captured across many states of the Australian mainland. These visual love letters evolved into The Bimbadeen Collection, a lens on the un-iconic beauty , the natural light and unseen textures of our magnificent continent.
The journey expands further into The Atelier, where art transitions from the wall to the individual. Here, The Evolving Garden silk shawls and handcrafted leather evening bags allow the essence of the landscape to be worn and lived in every day.
A Philosophy of Rarity
Today, the House of Petrichor is an evolving testament to Australia’s grandeur. Every piece I create is governed by a strict philosophy of rarity—with most works limited to only five editions worldwide. For those seeking the pinnacle of exclusivity, we will soon be opening our Kalimna Gallery offering prestigious, oversized works limited to only one or two prints.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
Love, Jenn
